Kitty City in Florida!

Lee is a town in Florida near Tallahassee where about 600 kittens live in small homes. This story has drawn visitors from aroundn the country to see the town with all the kittens roaming around. Different buildings that humans use in cities are miniaturized for cats to wander around in such as city halls, walmart, etc. The whole kitten city is located in the middle of 100 acres of pure wildlife where the number of kittens oddly outnumbers the number of people.

This abundant home to all these kittens is called "Caboodle Ranch." The founder, Craig Grant, believes that kittens should be able to roam around free just like humans. That was the inspiration he had behind this idea. The entire ranch is run on donations and it's a completey non-profit organization designed to help give cats a safe place to live. On the website Grant created to update those interested about the kittens, Grant writes about everything that happens with his kittens on a daily basis. His most recent post is about the easter egg hunt that he set up for the kittens. It takes lots of money for Grant to keep "Caboodle Ranch" a save haven and happy place for all of the kittens, so please consider donating to the cause!

How could you help kittens in your neighborhood without creating an organization like Grant?

New Born kittens information

For domestic cats, puberty is usually reached after about 9 to 10 months of age. The average litter of a female grown cat is 4 kittens. These kittens are born without much protection or senses. They are deaf and blind so they need lots of care while they're growing up. After about 8-10 days of age, kittens can begin to open their eyes and use their sense of sight. Most people tend to think that kittens look most cute at about this point when the kitten can just start to open its eyes. Kittens usually grow their baby teeth in about 8 weeks and they usually get their permanent  teeth in about 5-6 months. The primary needs of a newborn kitten is food and warmth. Kittens shouldn't even be handled or trained to walk until 10 to 14 days of age. The socialization stage is all the way from day 14 to week 14. This is the development of kittens into cats.

Current Happening- Kitten Season

With spring comes kittens. New foster parents are needed each year and a good place to adopt a kitten is at the Humane Society. They are planning to triple the number of adoptions from last spring, but to do that the Humane society is going to have to recruit and train as many foster parents as possible. Care, nurturing, food, and socialization is very important until the kitten matures. This means that there will be many more kittens out there and available for adoption, so now is a great time to look for kittens! I think this is great news for kittens and for us. More kittens will be saved and found families for which is awesome. There are over 20 adoption sites in Cumberland County so visit one today!

How could you help kittebns without a home in your community without adopting one?

This man is very happy with the kitten he just adopted!
